Supported Employment

What is Supported Employment?

Our Employment Specialists use an evidence-based practice, called Individual Placement Service (IPS), developed by Dartmouth College. Through IPS we focus on individual strengths and skills, not deficits. We work to place individuals in positions that offer competitive pay, fit their lives, and maximize their unique set of skills and strengths. Our program recognizes the indisputable value of Peer Delivered Services, and we integrate peer staff and volunteers whenever possible. We offer continued, individualized support to help clients maintain employment.

Supported Employment Principles

  • People are regarded in terms of their abilities and strengths
  • Everyone has the capacity to work and contribute to their community
  • The primary goal is to find a natural fit between the person’s strengths and a job in the community
